The most successful businesses are the ones that are able to differentiate themselves from their competitors. It is their uniqueness that they are promoting to their market. With people, we tend to want to be like everybody else. We’ll follow a trend, for example in clothing, and embrace it. We want to be like some movie or sports star.
Even many of the stars themselves sometimes will follow the crowd. We see many people going to plastic surgeons so that they look like so-and-so. Yet, in history, the people that have stood out are the ones that were different. While they took in what others thought about them, they didn’t stand by those opinions. They focused on what was best for them. They embraced what made them unique. They stood out from the crowd.
Elvis Presley was looked down upon before he became a big star. More recently, Taylor Swift told of the people that teased and bullied her because she was different from the in-crowd. Many of those same people are trying to get in her good graces because of her rise to stardom.
Both Elvis and Taylor used their differences to their advantage and took the world by storm. Because of that, the same world that ridiculed them, decided to embrace them.
If you have some uniqueness about you (and we all do), use it, embrace it. It is what makes you the person who you truly are. If you enjoy playing a musical instrument and some jock told it wasn’t cool, forget them. Do what you were meant to do. Taylor Swift did and so should you.
Develop your uniqueness. Keep at it and make it stronger. It takes about 10,000 hours of practice to master anything. Become a master at your uniqueness. Do not let other dictate who and what you should become. Be your own person with your own special skills and talent. Let your passion guide you to your true life’s purpose.
Exploit your uniqueness. In today’s internet world it has become so much easier to do just that. We have YouTube and many social networking sites that will give you a platform. There are also websites that will let you show the world your talent and hone those skills at the same time. As I write, EzineArticles.com is one of those sites. They let budding and experienced writers improve upon their skills. Many have gone on to write books and so forth.
Share with the world the special and different person you are. In the end we are all different and we are all the same. We are all humans with unique gifts.
