Various Methods to Count Paragraphs in Your Documents

When creating articles, novels or any popular piece of writing, you may be required to stay within a particular set of words. This is why you have to know how to tally the total number of characters and other specific text segmentation. Now, if you are needed to count paragraphs of your documents, different methods allow you to do this. The first one is the most common wherein you will only be using the word processor that you are currently working with. Most of the word processors today have this feature wherein you can count paragraphs, characters, words and lines that are present in the document. You can also select the areas wherein you are only required to count the characters. For instance, if you must leave out the title of the article, you can just select the body of the entry.

Another method that you can choose is to use the find and replace feature of the application. For instance, if you are currently using Word, you can press CTRL H on your keyboard or access this via the Edit menu. What you have to do here is to ensure first that you have already saved your document. You can press CTRL Home so that you will go to the beginning of the document. When you already have the Find and Replace dialog box opened, you can enter “^p” in the Find what box without the quotes. Then, go to the Replace with box and type in “^p” – again without the quotes. Click on Replace All and you will get the number of replacements made, which denote the number of paragraphs in the document. The real advantage here is that you can get the number of paragraphs that have the same style.

Now, if you are not using a word processor or that it is not available, you might find it troublesome to count paragraphs manually if you are using a text editor. This is not a problem if you are good at any programming language such as C since you can easily come up with a code that allows you to count the total number of paragraphs in your text files. However, if you are not savvy with such, you can still calculate paragraph total using third-party tools. All you have to do is to copy and paste the entry into the software application and you will be able to get the correct number of paragraphs.

You can also count the total number of paragraphs in your document using an online counter. Again, you are required to have a copy of the document that you would like to know the number of paragraphs so that you can paste it on the counter. You do not have to worry about the security or the confidentiality of your articles since the websites guarantee that they will only count the words or paragraphs and not take the document from you because they do not require you to upload the file. Make sure though that you have a stable internet connection so that you can get the results in a blink of an eye.
