In the event of a power failure, switches are established to switch over to the backup energy source to guarantee continuity in the power supply. Some data centers employ BGP4 ( Border Gate Protocol ). BGP is employed only by suppliers with multiple connections to the internet. BGP enables a multi-homed supplier to set up a truly redundant network. When a failure on a leased line is detected, BGP will mechanically close that line and re-route traffic to another connection point. Usually, only the larger firms will require the use of a data center to host their servers. Corporations will either consider bringing in or hire their own dedicated servers. Some massive firms may actually have a few to several hundred dedicated servers that they have to have hosted in a data center. For these corporations, they may consider leasing a separate space commonly referred to as a ‘cage’ that provides an even higher level of security.
